Arthur G. Long,

96, died at 3:30 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.


Arthur was born on Sunday, May 19, 1918, in Lima to Clarence M. Long and Clara M. (Sydam) Long; both parents preceded him in death. On October 25, 1942, he married Clara E. (Weierman) Long who also preceded him in death in 1999.

He is survived by 3 sons: Dennis A. (Alice) Long of, Mount Vernon, OH; Douglas G. (Louzella) Long of Utica, OH and Michael V. Long, of Nevada; A sister Patricia A. (Robert) Mills of Lima, OH. Twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, niece and long time caregiver Toneta Long Meeker.

He is preceded in death by a son, David B. (Sally) Long and brother, Richard O. (Evelyn) Long,

Arthur was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a VFW Life Member; 50 Year Member of Ft Amanda Lodge #706 F&AM; a member of the Lima Chapter #49 Royal Arch Masons; Lima Council #20 Royal & Select Masons. He was a past Commander of Shawnee Commandery #14 K.T. and is a Knight Templar Cross of Honor. He was a 32nd degree member of The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, and was a standing member of Ohio Eastern Stars Trinity Chapter 16. Arthur was also an avid fan of The Ohio State University; an employee for the Lima Fire Department for 25 years, After retiring from the fire department he was an employed at Lima Tank Plant and volunteer at Lima Memorial Health Systems for many years as well. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and above all things his family.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January, 21 at 8:00 PM there will be a Masonic Services will be conducted by Ft. Amanda Lodge 706, followed by a Scottish Rite Ring Service.
Also 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 22, at Chamberlain Huckeriede Funeral Home.

A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM, Friday, January, 23 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Pastor Mark Burden will officiate. Internment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
