82, died at 10:57 AM on Monday, August 19, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Carl was born on May 10, 1931, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Oscar C. Ward and Eva [Burgner] Ward.

Carl married Helen Horvath , she preceded him in death on May 7, 2001. He then married Barbara Harruff Gallaspie-Sanders on July 26, 2003 in Botkins, Ohio. She survives in Lima. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He retired after over 30 years from the Ford Motor Company on January 1, 1990. He was a member of the VFW Post 6772 Spencerville, American Legion Spencerville, and was a former golfer and bowler. He loved playing cards and his dog "Maggie".

He is survived by:his wife, Barbara Ward, Lima, OH; three daughters, Jackie (Bill) Bechtel, Kathy (Dr. Thomas) Hull, Sharon (Brad) Baylor; a son, Jay (Beth) Ward; daughter-in-law, Darlene Ward; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Morris Dingledine, of Lima, OH; a sister-in-law, Nancy Horvath, of Lima, OH; also surviving are Barbara's children, Clarence (Mary) Gallaspie, Dick Gallaspie, Anna (Bob) Steinke, Doug Gallaspie, Jim Sanders: and nine step grandchildren, and 13 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: two sons, Gary Ward, and James Ward; a brother, Tommie Ward; four sisters, Barbara Gudakunst, Joan Dingledine, Marie McLoughlin, Margaret Simmons; brothers & sisters-in-law; Anna Cassidy, Bill (Carol) Horvath, Steve Horvath, and Irene (Johnny) Olliver.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Military Rites will be conducted by VFW Post 6772, Spencerville, Ohio
