Gary was born on October 23, 1951, in Lima, Ohio, to Willis D. Sherer and Gloria J. (Williams)Sherer, they survive in Lima.
Gary graduated from Bath High School in 1970, and then served in the United States Army Quartermaster Corp for three years in Germany. He was long time employee at North Dixie Truck and Trailer. He attended The Ohio State University, both in Lima and in Columbus. He was a fan of the Moody Blues. He was a very loving and supportive son.
He is survived by: a brother Dee Sherer, of Lima, OH; a sister Barbara (David) Kienitz, of Lima, OH; three nephews, Steven A. (Katie) Marsh, of Waynesfield, OH, Kenneth (Sara Campbell) Marsh of Missouri, and Austin A. Sherer, of Lima, OH; three nieces, Adrienne (Jeremy) Fifer, of Lima, OH, and Ashley (Dave) Weichart, of Spencerville, OH, and Jennifer Marsh of Tennesse; step niece, Sarah Kienitz of California; step nephew, Josh Kienitz of California; three grand nephews, Bryce Fifer, Beckett Marsh, and Baby Marsh; great niece, Madison Fifer.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 and from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Funeral Service will begin at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with Rev. Wanda Werking officiating.
Interment will be at a later date in Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer, Ohio.
