James E. Lundy

James "Jim" E. Lundy
87, died at 9:25 p.m. July 17, 2013, at Springview Manor Nursing Home. He was born on July 9, 1926 in Clark Co. to Ernest and Charlotte (Brackney) Lundy who preceded him in death. On July 12, 1954 he married Charlotte (Nathison) Lundy who survives in Lima.
He was a WWII Army Veteran. He was also a member of East Liberty Lodge & #247, F&AM, and a 54 year member of Lima Chapter #49. Jim and his wife owned and operated the Varsity Shop in downtown Lima from 1965 to 1995. He also served on the Board of the Lima Chargers Hockey Team, a semi-pro team that played in Lima until the early 70s. Jim helped many of the young hockey players find a job and place to live.
The Lundys provided a home to former Charger Mike Chartrand during his first years in Lima and Mike worked at the Varsity Shop for many years. The Lundys provided his "home away from home".
Jim loved to play golf and spent many hours on the course at Hawthorne Hills Golf Course and at their winter home in Florida.
Surviving are two nephews Mark (Jane) Lundy and Steven (Candi) Sandler; four nieces Marcia Kahn, Joyce Lundy, Jenny McPheron and Jodi (Scott) Cowgill; three great nephews Adam Lundy, Quinten Cowgill and Trevor Cowgill; two great nieces Katherine Lundy and Caitlin Kahn; a sister in law Gerry Lundy. Jim is preceded in death by his brother Charles Lundy.

No services are planned and Jim has been cremated, but Charlotte is receiving friends at her home.
