Jean Marie Paulus

Jean Marie Paulus,

83, passed away at 2:44 AM on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice in Van Wert, Ohio.

Jean was born on August 19, 1931, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Wayne and Elinor (Keller) Nye.

On Saturday, January 14, 1950, in Tiffin, Ohio, she married the late James Paulus.

Jean was a longtime teacher in the Head Start program and also a Teacher's Assistant for the Lima City School System. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and her family and friends meant so much to her. She volunteered for many years at St. Rose in the school cafeteria, and with the Altar Rosary Society. She was also quite a seamstress, and she gave her handmade blankets, hats, and other handmade goods to many others. She was also a driver of her friends, taking them to doctor's appointments and other places when they couldn't drive themselves.

Jean leaves: one son, Mark (Deb) Paulus, Lima, OH; two daughters, Linda (Kevin) McGonagle, North Webster, IN and Kay (Scott) Altenburger, Troy, OH; grandchildren, Megan (Rev. Shawn) O'Brien, Jeff (Katie) Paulus, Brian McGonagle, Kristen and Lauren Altenburger, great grandchildren, Dylan Paulus, Aidan and Shane O'Brien and an "adopted" daughter, Marianne Youngpeter, Lima, OH.

She is predeceased by: great grandson, Evan O'Brien, special friend, Don Cygan.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 P.M. with a Parish Wake Service beginning at 8 P.M., on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio. Father David M. Ross will officiate. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum, Lima, Ohio.
