Kenneth H. Rhine,
87, passed from this world on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Van Wert County Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, Ohio.
Kenneth was born on Thursday, March 14, 1929, in Lima, to the late Kenneth E. and Mary A. (Horstman) Rhine. On Saturday, September 17, 1949, he married Eleanor L. "Peach" Brumfield, who preceded him in death on December 23, 2011.
Ken was a graduate of Lima St. John's High School in 1947 where he was a Senior Class President, and played basketball and baseball. He attended Northwestern School of Commerce and The Ohio State University. He served in the Naval Reserves for four years. He was with Excello Corporation and retired from Ford Motor Company working as a Machine Repairman.
He was much loved and will be greatly missed by his family. He was a wonderful father who always engaged in his children's activities. Ken was a humble man with great wit, intellect, work ethic and curiosity. He was a life-long learner, pursuing knowledge of things old and new and developing and executing many special projects during his lifetime; including building his own computers, and designing and constructing radio-controlled aircraft, in line with his love of aviation. To overcome his innate shyness, he enrolled in Dale Carnege classes where he excelled and became an assistant instructor. He lived his life with a goal of near perfection in all that he did.
He is survived by: daughter, Stephanie L. Rhine of Lima; sons, Gregory L. Rhine of Lima, Stephen (Sue) L. Rhine of Tucson, Arizona and Kevin L. Rhine of Lima; grandchildren, Alexis A. (Jason) Sanford of Tucson, Arizona, Heather L. Rhine, Hollie M. Rhine and Hayley E. Rhine; great grandchild, Miles Sanford of Tucson, Arizona; sisters, Wanda (John) Ickes and Rose Snyder; brothers, Gerald Rhine, David Rhine and Paul (Carmella) Rhine; sister-in-law, Frances Rhine; numerous nieces & nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by: brothers, Richard, Walter and Robert; sister-in-laws, Janice Rhine, Fran Rhine and Jackie Rhine and brother-in-law, Joseph Snyder.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Pastor Jim Menke will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
