Mary V. "Jeanne" Porreca,

80, passed away at 4:15 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Lima Convalescent Home.

Jeanne was born on Thursday, September 19, 1935, in McLean County, Kentucky, to the late George R. and Elizabeth (Coin) Barr. On Saturday, December 9, 1972, in Lima, she married the love of her life, Fedele "Phil" Porreca, who preceded her in death.

Jeanne worked about two years as a legal secretary for Robenalt and Daly Attorneys at Law and for the local telephone company before it closed. Her main enjoyment was the many years she worked as a Genealogist and free lance writer for the Lima News' "Our Generation" Magazine. She never considered herself to be a writer, but made many friends from Kansas to Canada while confirming her work.

She is survived by: a son, James Michael Ironmonger of Anchorage, AK; step son, Joe (Alice) Porreca of Houston, TX, step daughter, Cathy Collins of Lima, step daughter, Laurie (Ray) Shambrock of The Villages, FL, step daughter, Mary (Bill) Walter of The Villages, FL and step son, Fran (Linda) Porreca of Lima; brothers, Jim (Ethel) Barr and Charles (Betty) Barr; a sister, Margie Darland; special niece, Julie Barr; grandchildren, Tina (Jim) Reed, Brooke (Ray) Robinson, Justin (Julie Maxwell) Stoddard; six great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Clark Ironmonger.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Father Stephen Blum and will officiate. Entombment will occur at Gethsemani Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Historical Society, St. Rita's Hospice or Donor's Choice.
