86, died at 1:19 AM on Sunday, February 02, 2014, at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.
Peggy was born on October 20, 1927, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Harold Cook and Thelma (Hill) Cook.
On September 18, 1948 she married Melvin P. Werner who died May 31, 1995. Mrs. Werner graduated from Lima Central High School in 1945. She then entered nurses training at Lima Memorial Hospital and graduated in 1948 as an R. N. She worked in the Newborn Nursery her whole career. She later worked at the family business, Stephen's Lovebud's Flowers and later at Yazel's Colonial Florist. She was an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening, animals and her family. She was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church also known as New Creations Lutheran Church of Lima; also Lima Memorial Nurses Alumnae Association and the United States Humane Society.
She is survived by: two sons, Paul (Carolyn) Werner, of Lima, OH, and Stephen Werner, of Lima, OH; a daughter, Cheryl Ghettie, of Lantana, FL: two grandchildren, Shannon (Dawn) Ghettie of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Heather Grindlay of Marked Tree, AR; five great grandchildren, Sydnie Ghettie, Dylan Ghettie, Diana Grindlay, Kyle Grindlay, and Logan Grindlay.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 07, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 08, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with Pastor Samuel Payne officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
