77, died at 7:30 AM on Saturday, December 06, 2014, at Lima Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.
Thomas was born on February 6, 1937, in Lima, Ohio, to the late John Edward Gremling and Loretta (Miller) Gremling. On November 26, 1959, he married Rita Metzger, who survives in Lima.
He served in the United States Army for three years and 1 year in the National Guard. He was a member St. Gerard's Parish and a Honorary Lifetime Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved in the Cursillo Movement. Also he volunteered at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was a member of the UAW 1219, and retired from Ford Motor Company.
He is survived by: a daughter, Jan (Louis) Acerro, of Lima, OH, daughter, Loretta (Cody) Wood, of Lima, OH , son, Tom Gremling, of Lima, OH, son, Dan (Claire) Gremling, of Findlay, OH, a daughter, Barb (Nathan) Winters of Lima, OH, son, Jim (Noelle) Gremling, of Pataskala, OH, son, Mark (Chrystal) Gremling, of Troy, OH; twenty-eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Dale) Vondrell, of Lima, OH, two brothers-in-law , John Dear and Tom Kayser.
He was preceded in death by: two grandchildren, Joy Gremling and Joshua Gremling: four sisters, Dorothy Gremling, Mary Ann Dear, Gerry Kayser, and LaDonna Reaman; three brothers, Eddie "EJ" Gremling, Francis Gremling, and Bob Gremling; a brother-in-law, Don Reaman.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, December 08, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 09, 2014 at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima, OH. Father Jim Szobonya will officiate.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
