Elizabeth "Betty" LauritaSeptember 21, 1931 ~ January 3, 2018 (age 86)
Elizabeth (Betty) Laurita age 86, went home to be with Lord on January 3rd, 2018. Elizabeth was born in Lincoln Park, Michigan to Anna and George Koval. She was the last surviving sibling of five. Betty met and married Frank Laurita in 1951 and moved to Lima Ohio in 1957. Betty enjoyed time with her family and friends and was a dedicated wife and mother. She did volunteer work at Saint Rita’s Hospital and at the local Soup Kitchen. Betty had a way to connect with others and no one was ever a stranger to her. She loved music, especially Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson, movies and detective books. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and always kept things real and had a straight forward attitude. She was the living version of Hallmark’s Maxine. She loved living in Mexico and embraced the people and their culture. She always put others before herself.
Betty is survived by her husband Frank Laurita, and her six children Roland Laurita of Cape Coral, FL, Francis Laurita of Lima, Michael (Jeannie) Laurita of Columbus Grove, Kathy Grovum (David) of Cottage Grove, MN, Karen Lopez (Raymond) of Gilbert, AZ, Lauri Arredondo (Mario) of Gilbert, AZ. Betty has 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Laurita in 2013.
Visitation will be held at Saint Gerard’s Church, 240 West Robb Ave, Lima OH from 10am to Noon on Saturday January 6, 2018 with Mass following at Noon. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Elizabeth Laurita to: Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) at FOP@IFOPA.ORG.
