Jack Bennett

October 15, 1926 ~ November 6, 2018 (age 92)

Jack Robert Bennett, 92, of Cairo, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born on October 15, 1926 in Lima, Ohio to the late William Clinton and Hazel Margaret Marie {Harris} Bennett. On July 13, 1947 at Cairo Congregational Christian Church, he married Mary Katherine Bible, who survives him in Kalida.

Jack served in the US Army during WWII, entering at Fort Hayes in Columbus, Ohio in May 1945. He was a 7th Infantry Corporal Tech 5, and was discharged in Camp Beale, California in November 1946. He then worked for West Ohio Gas Co. in construction for 42 years, retiring January 1, 1992. He was a member of Cairo Christian Church in Cairo, Ohio, V.F.W. Post #9648 in Columbus Grove, Ohio and a former member of Lima Sues & Ques Square Dance Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Robert Lynn (Pat) Bennett of Nebraska City, NE and Dan Allen (Anne) Bennett of Wapakoneta, OH, grandchildren Theodore (Holly) Bennett of Bowling Green, OH, David (Penney) Bennett of Williamston, MI, John L. Bennett of Montara, CA, Traci (Ethan) Davis of San Diego, CA, and Alex (Laura) Bennett of Imperial Beach, CA, great-grandchildren Ethan (Ashley) Davis, Kalyn Davis, Maverick Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Theodore Bennett, and John Bennett, and step-great-grandchildren Emma Stephan and Henry Stephan.

He was preceded in death by his brothers William Bennett Jr. and Ted Allen Bennett, and his sister Phyllis Littler.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5-7p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 1p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the funeral home. Friends may visit on hour prior to service from 12-1p.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
