ADAM RITCHIE, 72, died at 9:45 a.m. August 30, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1931, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Gabe and Hattie Clemons Ritchie, who preceded him in death. On March 23, 1952, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, he married Joyce Smith, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Ritchie was a general laborer. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Local 329. He loved gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors also include three sons, Adam (Ida) Ritchie Jr. of Perry County, Kentucky, Gary (Julie) Ritchie of Lima, Ohio and David (Pandora) Ritchie of Wapakoneta, Ohio; a daughter, Eva Ritchie-McGuire of Lima, Ohio; two brothers, Martin Ritchie of Lexington, Kentucky, and Ben Ritchie of Hindman, Kentucky; two sisters, Allie Fugate of Jackson, Kentucky, and Larcena Ritchie of Vest, Kentucky; and 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Everett, Joe, Ishmail, Chester, Edward, Marion and Mitchell; and three sisters, Laurie, Stella and Lottie. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freewill Baptist Church, 1507 Grant St., Lima, Ohio. The Rev. Les Wireman will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Waynesfield, Ohio.
