Audrey M Jones

Audrey M. Jones, passed away on Sunday May 5, 2024, just 115 days before reaching her 100th birthday. Audrey was born in Kenton, Ohio on August 28, 1924, to Lester and Donna (Watt) Shrider [Flossie (Oates) Shrider, stepmother], being the next to youngest of 4 children; her younger brother Bernard, of Arizona, survives her. Audrey played the accordion with 120 key bass, performing with an accordion band of 15 some members in Kenton during her high school years. Even in her 80’s, Audrey could “squeeze” out a spirited version of “The Merchant of Venice” from memory.

Audrey married Robert Jones III of Lima on October 14, 1951, and celebrated 64 years together, until his passing in 2016. Together they have 4 children: Jeffrey (Kathleen) Jones of Michigan, Kevin (Susan) Jones of Pennsylvania, Melanie (Mark) Biedenharn of Ohio, and Darrell (Sean) Jones of Oregon. She has 5 grandchildren: Leslie, Benjamin, Stephanie, Kelly, and Eric; and 2 great grandchildren: Finn, and Cal.

Audrey worked in various office settings (Westinghouse), and later as a homemaker and mother. She was active in First E & R Church, singing in the choir, and serving on the Ladies’ Aid Society. She was a precinct chair and poll worker for elections in her local township. On football game days, Audrey could often be heard cheering (rather loudly at times) for the Buckeyes.

It is written that Faith, Hope, and Love, abide these three … and the greatest of these is Love. Love and loving well describe Audrey, for she was a loving and kind daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend. She shared her love with those around her, with a quiet demeanor, and pleasant sense of humor. The love that she shared with others endures now and into the future. In our grief and loss, let us seek to share with others, the love that Audrey shared with each of us.

Visitation will be at Chamberlain Huckeriede funeral home (920 N. Cable Rd., Lima, Ohio, 45805) on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 10am to 12pm, with the memorial service at the same location beginning at 12pm, and interment at Lafayette Cemetery, Lafayette, Ohio directly following the memorial service.
