Barbara L. Sanner

Barbara L. Sanner, 92, passed Saturday, March 9, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children.      

“Bardy” was born on June 3, 1931 in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Charles Adams and Vera {Freidley} Adams. At a young age, Bardy moved to Rockford, OH where she grew up and graduated from Rockford High School.

Bardy met Ronald Sanner in 1951 through their mutual love of harness horses and were married on September 30, 1952. Barb was the best mom ever, staying home and raising 3 grateful children, daughters Cindy Banyas and Ronda (Mike) George and a son Kerry (Tami) Sanner. She stayed busy rushing them to various practices, competitions, and outings and still found time to volunteer weekly at Lima Memorial Hospital where her passion was in the nursery taking newborns’ pictures among other duties.

Barb and Ron had a beautiful life filled with vacations with friends and family, golf adventures, fishing and boating, club hopping, and taking care of their children and each other. She was always the one that caught the biggest fish and if you didn’t see her on the boat, she would be under a blanket on the “Bardy pot”. She followed the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals, and was also an avid fan of the PGA tour.

Bardy was preceded in death by her loving husband Ron, her parents, and her stepfather Ervin Samples. She is survived by her 3 children, 6 grandchildren: Derrick Smith, Mikey George, Elliot George, Shawn Sanner, Nick Sanner, and Brittany Sanner, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Connie French, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Interim Home Hospice, especially “angels” Laura, Mandy, Corrina, and Glory for their love and compassionate care during the past several weeks and Kerry and Cindy want to thank Ronda for putting her life on hold, moving in with mom, and being her caregiver these past several months. Ronda, you fulfilled mom’s last wish, which was to pass at home and we are forever grateful.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. Chaplain Glory Geib will officiate. Burial will be at Allentown Cemetery.
