Betty (Kohlhorst) Arn passed away on September 14, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born in Allen County in 1934 to Burley and Irene (Ralston) Kohlhorst. Betty graduated from South High School in 1952 and married Rudy Arn in 1960. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Willard Thomas of Harrod, Ohio. She was baptized at the Lima Baptist Temple by Rev. Ronald Cannon.
Betty managed the Neisner’s department store in Lima and trained other staff in Texas on opening new stores. She served as Bath School PTA president and volunteered for many years in service to the school community. She managed the Bath food tent at the Allen County Fairgrounds, and her special chili recipe had a line down the midway even on hot August days. She served as project manager and co-captain for the March of Dimes in a nine-county area for many years. In later years, she became a private duty home health care giver.
Betty’s life revolved around her family and always serving others. She loved Polka dances, auto racing, reading and making flower arrangements. Out of the blue, she could say a real zinger of a funny clip that made you bend over laughing. She loved people, especially children and so many called her their second mom. Her hugs and “I love you” were commonplace and you knew she meant it by the way she lived and loved.
Betty was a 30-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie/ Auxiliary #370 of Lima, Ohio.
She is survived by her children Phillip Arn, Wade (Cindy) Arn, and Victoria Arnatelli; grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley) Arn, Brittany (Matt) Taylor, and Courtney (Scott) Schnipke; several great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Selhorst and Larry Ream.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Arn and her siblings, Richard (Betty) Kohlhorst, Robert (Sylvia) Kohlhorst and Carol Ream.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in the Committal Chapel on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 1 p.m.
