Emblem

Betty Hollar, 79, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born on March 14, 1944, in Lima, Ohio to Israel “Sonny” Rachlin and Mary Jane (Dick) Clark, who preceded her in death. On October 25, 2008, she married Mikel Hollar, who survives in Texas.

Betty was a 1962 graduate of Lima Central High School and retired as a clerk after 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. She was a joyfully involved member of both North Park Community Church here in Lima as well as Pojoaque Bible Church during the 10 years she lived in New Mexico. Her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids all believe the sun revolved around her. She was always present and playful, reading to us while occasionally “resting her eyes”, coloring, baking, going to amusement and water parks, the movies and playfully aggravating everyone along the way. In her later years, she enjoyed reading books, doing jigsaw puzzles and baking for everyone!  She was an encourager and showed us all the true meaning of unconditional love. She never feared death because she knew exactly where she was going and anticipated meeting her Savior, Jesus.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Rusty (Mandi) Weaver, Missy (Bud Kopp) Mulholland, and Molly McElroy-Hodosko; grandchildren: Dominique, Jordan, Justan, Sinuwa, Braeden, Brad, Megan, Madison, Brady, River and Marley; great-grandchildren: Maci, Mallie, Talon, Kamden, Barrett, Annabelle, and Veria; siblings: Barabi Rachlin, Michael (Sue) Rachlin and family, and Michelle Hood and family; nieces, Ruthann and Devon; and stepmother, Mary Edith Rachlin.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Wayne McElroy and brother, David Rachlin.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio; and from 11 a. m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024.  The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. immediately following visitation.
