Beverly Anne “Bev” Miller, passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita's in Lima.
Bev was born in Lima, Ohio, to Holly (Speer) and Don F. Bowersock who preceded her in death. She married Robbie L. Miller, who preceded her in death on June 30, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Mark L. (Debbie Cassel) Miller of Evanston, Illinois, and Daniel D. (Cristy) Miller of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Finnegan Robbie and Maeve Isabelle Miller; cousins: Susan (Jon) Speer-Powers of Delaware, Ohio, Sally (Bill-D) Speer-Leber of Powell, Ohio, Candace Snow and Tony (Maggie) Snow of Lima; and many friends who will remember her for her infectious laugh and her ability to smile at life, even when life didn’t always smile on her.
Bev retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant where she worked in the Human Resources Dept. for 34 years. In addition to being the editor of the Lima Engine Hi-Lites, a quarterly publication, other favorite jobs at Ford involved coordinating community relations and community service projects, which provided many volunteer opportunities for her both before and after retirement. She served and held positions on the Board of directors of ArtSpace/Lima, Lima’s Samaritan House, and the Literacy Council of Northwest Ohio. She also served on several committees and volunteered for numerous United Way projects, including chairing the United Way Telethon. She was an active member of the Ford Salaried Retiree Club, where she was editor of their quarterly newsletter. She was an avid reader and was a member of the Lima Sorosis Book Club, the Chatterbooks Book Club, and a past member of the American Association of University Women’s Literary Group. Other affiliations included Beta Nu Chapter of Sigma Beta Sorority. She was a long-time volunteer of the local St. Jude Telethon, and through her work at Ford, volunteered for many other local non-profit organizations, including Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Johnny Appleseed Park, and Camp Robin Rogers. She also co-chaired and organized the Celebration of America to honor NY firefighters after 9/11. In 2002, she was a local Jefferson Award winner, which recognizes local citizens for community involvement. In 2016, she was the first recipient of the ArtSpace/Lima Volunteer of the Year Award.
Bev attended Miami University in Oxford, OH and received her Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts degree, with concentrations in English, Psychology, and Business from the University of New York in Albany, NY. However, she was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. After retirement, she worked part-time at Spherion of Lima as their graphic arts and advertising consultant. Of all of her accomplishments, she was most proud oof her two sons, to whom she not only gave unconditional love, but wings. Her life revolved around them and their families, and she gave them her unending devotion and support in anything they attempted in life.
