Brenda Hilyard

Brenda Hilyard, 69, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025, at her home in Lima.

Brenda was born on October 25, 1955, in Manchester, Kentucky, to John and Lucy (Curry) Samples Sr. On September 8, 1973, she married James “Jay” Hilyard, who survives in Lima.

Brenda loved her family, especially her grandsons, and having family dinners. She always looked forward to having family over on the weekends. She was very loved by her family!

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her sons, Jeff (Alexis) Hilyard and Jayme (Jordan) Hilyard; grandsons: Braelyn, Jameson, Lucas, David, Jaydan; brother, John (Deanne) Samples Jr., half-sisters, Judy Jarvis West, Pam (Daniel) Samples Davis, and half-brother, Ryan Samples.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy; half-brothers, Joe Jarvis, Ray Jarvis, and Jim “Bo” Jarvis; and half-sisters, Mary “Sissy” Jarvis Wooten, and Joy Jarvis Gibson; mother-in-law, Martha Hilyard; and sister-in-law, Wava Cotterman.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Lay-Pastor Dave Belton will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family towards funeral expenses.
