Charles Edward McKenzie

Charles Edward McKenzie, 77, passed away at 11:49 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at his home in Lima. 

Charles was born on July 13, 1946, in Pike County, Kentucky, to Harold E. and Lillian Leona (Epling) McKenzie.  On October 27, 2011, he married Pamela (Smith) McKenzie, who survives in Lima.

Charles was a disabled Navy Veteran and had been a carnival worker.  He enjoyed watching basketball, baseball, football and was both an Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Sports fan.  He dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Darren McKenzie, and Troy King; stepchildren: Parrice Smith, Martrice Smith Sr., and Valanne Smith; grandchildren: Austin McKenzie, Kylie McKenzie, and Hayden McKenzie; step-grandchildren: Aliyah White, Martrice Smith Jr., and Chanel Smith; sister, Brenda Taylor; brothers: William “Bill” McKenzie, Robert McKenzie, and Jeff (Patty) McKenzie; and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis Gerdeman; and brother, Rick “Reco” McKenzie.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.  Pastor Floyd Upshaw Jr. will officiate.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
