David Cox

David Robert Cox, 90, of Lima, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 1:01 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born on May 29, 1934 in Roundhead, Ohio to the late David and Elmina {Hammitt} Cox. 

On September 24, 1960, he married Mary {Debo} Cox, who survives in Lima. David worked as a manufacturing engineer for General Dynamics and Clark Equipment. He enjoyed watching a lot of baseball, especially the Cleveland Guardians. He also was an avid Cleveland Browns, Ohio State football, and Dayton Flyers basketball fan. He enjoyed vacationing in Gatlinburg, TN and Florida with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Rebecca Newman, Steven Cox, and Tim (Melissa) Cox, grandchildren: Jenna (Steven) Perkins, Emily Newman, Nick Newman, Lucas Newman, Caroline Cox, and Katherine Cox, and great-grandchildren: Henry Perkins and Lincoln Perkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Patsy Cramer, and son-in-law: Joseph D. Newman.

The family will receive friends on Thurs, June 20, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, where a rosary service will follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, Lima. Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
