Dawn Maitlen

Dawn E. Maitlen, 76, passed away at 3:33a.m. on August 27, 2026, at her residence in Texas

Dawn was born on June 2, 1950, in Lima, Ohio, to Vernon and Lynda Adams. On January 1st, 1972, she married Donald L. Maitlen, who preceded her in death.

Dawn was an executive secretary, working in hospitals, hotels, and private investigations. Her favorite place of employment was as secretary of Sales at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, TX. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and classic movies. She had a fondness for cats and left behind her final furry friend, a golden tabby named The Boss.

She is survived by her 3 children: Jeffrey L. Maitlen, Melynda C. (Fred) Prater, and John R. Maitlen II, all of Princeton, TX; 2 grandsons, Joshua Prater of Dallas, TX and Jared Prater of Princeton, TX; 3 step-grandchildren: Jennifer Anderson, Shane Adam Prater, and Jessica Prater; brother, Glen Adams; sisters, Vicki West and Kathy DiMaria; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Donald Maitlen, her parents, Vernon and Lynda Adams, and an infant brother.

There will be a graveside service in Lima, Ohio on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association and The American Cancer Society.
