Dean Swartz

Dean E. Swartz 82, died at 12:49 p.m. January 30, 2010, at his residence. He was born February 21, 1927, in New Hampshire, Ohio, to Albert Elroy and Leota Rashial Morris Swartz, who preceded him in death. April 7, 1948, he married Fredora Stocker, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Swartz retired from Ohio Steel after 43 years. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and an avid golfer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from June 5, 1945, to November 5, 1946. Survivors also include a son, Mike (Connie) Swartz, of Elida, Ohio; a daughter, Deana Bridges, of Lima, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Danielle Swartz, Kendra (Tony) Tamayo, Justin Swartz, Jessica Bridges, Joshua (Lisa) Bridges, Jenna Bridges and Joelle Bridges; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elise (Allen) Whetstone. He was preceded in death by a son, Hal Swartz. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2010 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio.
