87, died at 7:14 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Dorothy was born on February 10, 1926, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Faye Newland and Thelma [Cox] Newland.
Dorothy married Lowell Gene Shirkey on November 2, 1946, he preceded her in death. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her dog Krissy.
She is survived by: three daughters and one son, Carolyn Guagenti, of Lima, OH, Marilyn Lewis, of Kenton, OH, Mike (Sharon) Shirkey, of Delphos, OH, Rita Holland, of Alger, OH; fifteen grandchildren, Dino (Gina) Guagenti, Greg (Kathy) Guagenti, Roz (John) Mikesell, Natalie (Mo) Dahi, Nanette (Jason) Miller, Jackie Guagenti, Jim Lewis, Dusty Lewis, Jessica (Paul) Blair, Dave (Jodi) Shirkey, Derek (Amy) Mills, Shannon (Dave) Schlagbaum, Michelle Harp, Samantha Ferguson, Doug (Robin) LaRue; great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Reed, of Lakeview, OH; two brothers, Jerome Newland, Lakeview, OH, and Butch Newland, Lima, OH.
She was preceded in death by: two sons-in-law, Dominic Guagenti, and Jake Holland; and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Rev. Wanda Werking and will officiate.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
