Douglas Handshoe

Douglas W. Handshoe, 72, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Lima Memorial Hospital. Doug was born on November 7, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, to Theodore Handshoe and Sylvia (Stephens) Poe.

Doug had owned and operated A-1 Moving Company in Winston-Salem, NC with his son.

He was a member of King Christian Center in King, NC.

He is survived by his sons, Mike Handshoe of Tobaccoville, NC and Todd Handshoe of Winston-Salem, NC; stepson, Joe Thomas of Wapakoneta, OH; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother; and sister, Deborah (Charles) Gronas of Lima.

He was preceded in death by his father; brothers Theodore Handshoe Jr. and Jeffrey Handshoe; and nephew, Mark Handshoe.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. Rev. Patrick Baymen will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to donor’s choice.
