Emma Mae Ellis, 75, of Lima, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at her home. She was born on September 7, 1950, in Philipp, MS to the late Arthur C. and Bernice {Thomson} Maroney.
Emma was previously married to Albert T. Ellis, who preceded her in death. From that union came 2 children. Emma retired from Plastipak Packaging as a utility worker after 25 years. As a young child, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a former member of 11th Street Missionary Baptist Church. She was a former bowler with the Van Wert Travelers and enjoyed playing BINGO on her cell phone, doing yardwork, and watching cartoons and Westerns.
She is survived by her daughters: Ethel Mae (Chester) Shurelds of Lima and Alice Marie Young of Lima, grandchildren: Tevin Simpson, Keonna Simpson, Chelsea (Nicholas) Truesdale, and Ethan Shurelds, great-grandchildren: Janiah Wall, Callan Truesdale, Jess Wall, Kieran Shurelds, and Jackson Truesdale, brother: Willie B. Maroney Sr., sisters: Ella Mae Simpson, Arnett Maroney, Mabel Johnson, Victoria Maroney, and a sister of the heart: Wilma Youngblood, and her dear friends: Dorothy Knuckles and Johnnie Tolbert.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Tommy L. Maroney, Charles Maroney, Arthur C. Maroney Jr., and James O. Ellis, and sister: Mae Frances Branthay.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, with family present from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Second Baptist Church, Lima. Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
