86, died at 9:50 P.M. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center in Lima, Ohio.
Eugene was born on October 27, 1929, in Lima, Ohio, to Alberta Gertrude Ward and later adopted by the late Russell Brandon and then raised by James J. Kirwin. On May 1, 1954, in St. Michaels Catholic Church, Kalida, OH, he married Alice Marie (Maag) Brandon she preceded him in death on October 20, 1988.
He served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1951 and then joined the United StatesAir Force where he served from 1951 to 1953. He retired after 30 years as a letter carrier from the US Postal Service and later with Parcel Post. Eugene was a member of the American Legion in Columbus Grove, Ohio, the Lima Eagles, the Knights of Columbus, the NALC, the National Audubon Society, St. Gerards Catholic Church and it's Altar Rosary Society. He enjoyed gardening, dancing, traveling and eating home cooked meals.
He is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Dan) Hepp and a son, Tom (Becky) Brandon, of Lima, OH; seven grandchild, Tricia Blanken, Missy (Eric) Blacker, Joshua (Natasha) Hepp; Danielle Hepp, Alyssa (Bradson) Ephraim, Audrey Brandon, Anna Brandon; fourteen great grandchildren Tesla, Manuel, Vaughn, Kayla, Nina, Topanga, Ashlyn, Adrian, Ivan, Treyvon, Devoughn, Elliona, Markel, Juelian; two great great grandchildren, Jaxson and Kortlin.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Alberta and James Kirwan and a special friend, Virginia Eickholt.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima, OH. Father Mike Houston will officiate.
Interment of the ashes will be in Gethsemani Cemetery at a later date.
