Eugene HERMON

79, died at 9:15 a.m. June 15, 2004, at his residence. He was born March 17, 1925, in Ada, Ohio, to Lester and Hazel Rager Hermon, who preceded him in death. On November 15, 1947, he married Delores Baumgartner, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Hermon retired in 1984 as a toolmaker from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He also retired from his own machine shop in 1998. He was a member of Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a gunner on a troop carrier from June 18, 1943, to March 4, 1946. Survivors also include three daughters, Ann (James) Shellaberger, Janice (Wayne) Bohyer and Mary Cavanaugh, all of Lima, Ohio; a son, Gene Hermon of Lima, Ohio; four brothers, Milan Hermon of Chelsea, Michigan, Harding Hermon of McComb, Ohio, Paul Hermon of Lima, Ohio and Samuel Hermon of Arlington, Ohio; a sister, Katherine Tussing of Findlay, Ohio; five grandsons, Benjamin (Diana) Shellaberger, David Shellaberger, Rob (Katie) Ricker, Duaine (Jennifer) Cavanaugh and Andrew Cavanaugh; three stepgrandchildren, Julie (Mike) Sanders, Jason (Jayme) Bohyer and Jeremmy (Mary Anne) Cavanaugh; five great-grandchildren, James Shellaberger, Calab Cavanaugh, Lindsey Cavanaugh, Jessica Cavanaugh and Jaden Ricker; and five step great-grandchildren, Tony Sanders, Devin Sanders, Katelynn Cavanaugh, Kayla Cavanaugh and Jeremmy Cavanaugh Jr. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Ricker; a son-in-law, Everett Cavanaugh; five brothers, Lester Hermon, Francis Hermon, Roy Hermon, Calvin Hermon and Melvin Hermon; and two sisters, Fay Arnold and Naomi Butler. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Martin Moyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery.
