Gary Young

Gary L. Young, 64, of Lima, sunrise September 30, 1957, sunset September 20, 2022.

Gary attended the workshop at Marimor Industries. He was one of the first residents to reside at the Mary Ann Brown facility. Gary came in contact with so many caregivers and each one cared and protected him. His favorite caregiver was Karen Cunningham (who he called Parker Mama). She preceded him in death. Gary loved music. He carried his boombox all through the facility. His favorite song was Beat It, by his favorite artist, Michael Jackson.

Gary is survived by his mother, Yvonna Jackson (Young); sisters: Beverly Upshaw, Tanya Young, Vanessa Young, Kimberly (John White) Young, Sharma (Doug Ware) Young, and Malaya (George) Bryant; and brother, Hans Young.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Young; brother, William Young Jr.; stepfather, Leroy Jackson; and grandparents, Saunders and Annie May Young and Claire and Sherman Boddie.

A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima.  Friends may visit one hour prior to the funeral, from 10-11 a.m. Dr. B. Lamont Monford Sr. will officiate.
