Gaylord Eugene "Gene" Accountius

Gaylord Eugene Accountius (AKA Gene) went home to his final resting place on June 28, 2023, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.

He was born on April 13, 1944, to the late William and Margaret (Faze) Accountius.

He is survived by his lifelong partner of 53 years, Richard (Rick) Strumpf of North Point, Florida; his sister, Barbara (Jim) Wies of Lima, OH, his two nieces, Sandra (John) Bush of Delaware OH, and Terri Wies-Haithcock of Lima, OH; and his newly acquired pup “Honey”. He was preceded in death by his sister, Col. Patricia Accountius.

Gene enjoyed his retirement in North Point, Florida and was the neighborhood Mr. Helper.  If a light bulb needed changed or something needed fixed, he would do it.  Gene was a dog lover and he enjoyed doing yardwork and pruning his lemon and peach trees.  If someone needed to borrow a tool or needed to find a bolt or nail, they would go to Gene and his garage. He had an abundance of “fix it” items.

Gene loved good food, spending time with friends, and had wonderful times at Venice Beach.  He will be remembered for his kind heart and giving spirit; and will be missed by all that knew him.

A graveside service will begin at 12 noon on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima Ohio.
