GLADYS J. HORN, 87, died at 8 a.m. January 21, 2005, at her daughter's residence, surrounded by her family. She was born March 7, 1917, in Cattlett, Virginia, to James Edward and Minnie Mae Nalls Johnson, who preceded her in death. On December 25, 1937, in Virginia, she married the Rev. Bernard E. Horn, who died October 5, 1967. Mrs. Horn was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She had worked at Welles as a clerk and at the Lima Convalescent Home as a cook. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, reading and eating out. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She served faithfully alongside her husband in the pastorate. She loved and served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survivors include four children, Kaye (Ken) Heath of Lima, Ohio, Gloria (Robert) Wood of Bluffton, Ohio, Bernard (Sherry) Horn II of Lima,Ohio and Beth (David) Hurles of Lima, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cathy (Raymond) Whitfield of South Bend, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Lee; and two brothers, Blair Johnson and Elmer Johnson. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church. The Rev. Bernard Horn II will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe, Indiana. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Teens for Christ.
