Harold Burden,

HAROLD E. "AUTOMATIC" BURDEN Sr., 80, died at 3:40 p.m. March 24, 2005, at his residence. He was born April 9, 1924, in Lima, Ohio to John H. and Muriel Weaver Burden, who preceded him in death. In 1947, he married Wilma Schuster, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Burden retired as a machine operator from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, where he worked from 1960 to 1991. He had also worked at the Lima Tank Plant and Trinity Industries. He had owned his own company which moved and set up mobile homes. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, American Legion Post 96 and Orioles Nest 173. He and his wife had served as foster parents for several years in the Lima area. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from March 30, 1943, to Nov. 19, 1948, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and camping. He loved sports and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Survivors also include a son, Harold E. (Rhonda) Burden Jr. of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Linda E. Warner of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Doris Lee and Treva Archer, both of Lima, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Lisa Burden, Paul Warner, Kelly Burden, Angie (Earl) Mayer, Chris Warner, Wesley Burden and William Burden; and six great-grandchildren, Nick, Heather, Josh, Justin, April and Summer. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Vick Kaiser; a brother, Richard Burden; two sisters, Martha Gardener and Viola Miller; and a grandson, Michael Warner. Services will begin at noon Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice, 770 W. North St., Lima, OH 45801.
