Jaden Layne Oglesbee

March 20, 1973 — December 27, 2020

Lima, OH

Jaden Layne Oglesbee, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on December 26, 2020 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.  He was born to Karen and Butch Oglesbee on March 20, 1973, in Lima, Ohio.

From early childhood and throughout his lifetime, sports played a big part in Jaden’s life.  He held a long record for sacks in football as a defensive end at Elida High School, from where he graduated in 1991.  Jaden is also remembered for his performance as first baseman in baseball.  He was a loyal fan of Notre Dame, and also enjoyed following the 49ers and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Jaden took extreme pride in his younger relatives, and he sometimes shared special, motivational tips before their games.  He was often spotted, cheering on the sidelines at their practices and events.  Jaden was also an avid disc golfer.

Jaden felt most alive in nature while fishing at the local reservoir or boating at Lake Erie, walking in a park, or looking after the welfare of animals.

Jaden worked numerous jobs over his life, the most recent being with Ameritrans Moving.  Those who knew him best saw the joy that he had while helping neighbors and friends, usually under the radar.  He loved cooking for his family.  Jaden held a special place in his heart for the elderly and for those in need.

Along with his parents, Jaden is survived by a brother, Chad (Tina) Oglesbee and a sister, Angelia (Kevin Bockey) Evans.

Jaden’s Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring at a favorite park.  Family and friends will be notified of the date and the location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elida Athletic Dept.
