James William Kell

James W. Kell, 81, passed away at 8:31AM on June 9, 2024, at St. Rita’s Hospital 

James was born on November 15, 1942, in Brookville, Ohio, to John Kell and Sylvia (Barnhart) Herndon.  On Saturday, June 12, 1982, he married Linda (Peterman) Kell, who survives in Lima.

James retired after working 30 years at Ford Motor Co. He was a member of Lima Seventh Day Adventist Church where he served as an Elder. He ran the church food pantry for some time and would bake bread just about every week to share among the other members. In his retirement he worked at Reineke Ford, where he was a driver. James enjoyed making stain glass, wood working, making toy trucks for his grandchildren and family game nights. James was a 6-year survivor of Pancreatic cancer. More than anything he loved his wife of 42 years, Linda. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Sandra Moseley, James B. Kell, Charles (Roy McGee) Kell, Randy (Patti) Kell, John J. Kell, Barbara (Doug) Martin, Jeffery (Tara) Peterman, and Kathleen (Scott) Freytag, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren & 2 on the way and two half-sisters; Theresa Marshall and Jayne Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Shirley Pederson, Joann Bille and Dorothy Royer, brother, John L. Kell and a half-brother Timothy Kell. 

The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The funeral service will begin at 11 am on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the funeral home with a visitation before from 9 am to 11am.  Pastor Carl Brooks will officiate.  Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
