James D. Malloy, 78, passed away on May 1, 2026 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
James was born on July 2, 1947 in Lima, Ohio to Richard and Louise (Miller) Malloy. On July 18, 1970, he married his beloved, Kay (Smith) Malloy who survives in Lima.
James served in the US Navy from 1966 to 1968. He then went to work for the Ford Motor Company as a hydraulic machine repairman, retiring after 33 years with them. He was an avid Reds, Browns and OSU fan. He was an even bigger fan of cheering on his grandkids.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Christine (Charles Harvey) Norris, Stacy (Kraig) Lee, and Robin (Lucian) Malloy Dumitrescu; grandchildren: Shelby (Erica) Malloy, Sydney (Dylan) Biglow Pettigrew, Saige Biglow, Kale (Sydney) Lee, and Katherine (Ethan) Lee; great-grandchildren: Shawn Malloy, Oliver Latham, Willow Latham, Oaklen Latham, Jameson Pettigrew and Dylilah Pettigrew; and two sisters, Susan Renick and Mary (Rick) Pryer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Malloy; and brother-in-law, Benny Renick.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Lima Baptist Temple with a viewing one hour prior to service. Pastor Gary Hohlman and Pastor Ben Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
