James Thorburn

James Thorburn, 81, passed away at 8:35 p.m. on August 17, 2026, at Springview Manor.

James was born on June 28, 1945, in Lima, Ohio, to Robert and Margurite (Parlette) Thorburn. On June 21, 1969, he married Terrie (McCullough) Thorburn, who preceded him in death.

James was a 1963 Lima Senior High graduate. When he was younger he loved to fish, then he loved to hunt deer and elk. James was also a Police Officer for 37 years, retiring as a Major.

He is survived by three grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Brenneman and Nancy Thorburn; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Thorburn; and a sister, Norma Thorburn.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on (Date) 2026, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Elida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deb’s Dogs, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
