Janelle Jane Stokes

Janelle Jane Stokes , 78, passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 3, 2022, at The Greens of Lima.

Jane was born on April 30, 1944 in Lima, Ohio, to  Mary (Nolan) Core and David D. Zimmerman.  On July 1, 1967, she married Roger Stokes, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2020.

Jane was a 1962 graduate of Shawnee High School , and a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church. Jane loved to shop. In fact, shopping was such an immense pleasure to her that she would get all worked up acquiring the best bargains. Jane was a happy person who loved to sing and got a kick out of making people laugh. She loved to collect things and her most recent passion was for elephants.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelly (Randall) Mason and Karie Stokes; grandchildren, Kiley (James) Melton, Natalie (Mike) Holobaugh, and Lexi Heitmeyer; and great-grandchildren, Kaedyn, Brynn, Gracyn, Paityn; and a brother Dr. Ronald Core.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother Kurt K. Zimmerman and Step-father Nolan Core.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday July 7, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022  at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Lori Wright will officiate.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.

Jane was an avid reader and well known at The Lima Public Library. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Public Library.
