Jerry Cox, 71, passed into the arms of his Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at OSU Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus.
Jerry was born on May 14, 1954, in Cambridge, OH, to Harold L. and Avonnah Jean (Gunn) Cox. On August 27, 1977, he married the love of his life, Lois (Bollenbacher) Cox, who survives in Spencerville.
A 1972 graduate of Spencerville High School, Jerry worked as a truck driver for 36 years through the Teamsters Union, followed by 10 years at Marimor Industries. During retirement, he enjoyed the extra time it provided for golfing with his friends. He was also especially grateful for the time spent wintering in California in his RV, and visiting his sons, their wives, and his grandchildren. Jerry was a longtime, active member of Grace Community Church.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Timothy (Natalie) Cox and Jared (Jamie) Cox; grandchildren: Jason, Rachel, Megan, and Dylan; brothers: Ronnie (Shari) Cox, Larry Cox, Carl (Sue) Cox, and Craig (Annette) Cox; sister, Cathy (Alan) Huffer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Gary Cox; sister-in-law, Nancy Cox; and nephews, Dave Cox and Michael Huffer.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Grace Community Church, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor John Heyward will officiate.
