John Richard Bercaw

John R. Bercaw, passed away March 20, 2024 at Otterbein Cridersville.   

John was born on August 4, 1936 in Bellefontaine, OH to the late Donald and Betty (Barker) Bercaw.  On January 13, 1957, he married Ann Mathews who preceded him in death on February 13, 2019.

He retired from Ford Motor Company.  John enjoyed Lima Senior Football and Basketball games.  He was an avid football fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.   He was a member of Lima Community Church.

John is survived by two sons:  Mark Bercaw of Russells Point, OH and Chris (Penny) Bercaw of Knoxville, TN; two daughters:  Stephanie (Steve) McElderry of Lima, OH and Jennifer (Bill) Wren of Bellefontaine, OH; seven grandchildren:  Jessica Bercaw, Ben Bercaw, Nick (Rachel) Bercaw, Ashley McElderry, Josh McElderry, Hannah (Grayson) Gantz, Hayley (David) Rogers; eight great-grandchildren; nephews Bill (Vera) Bercaw and Mike Bercaw; Brothers-in-Law David (Mary Rose) May, Rick Mathews; Sisters-in-law Helen (Kelly) Swint, Shelly McPheron and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother David Bercaw, Brothers-in-Law Thom Mathews, Denny Mathews, Dana McPheron and Sisters-in-Law Sue Mathews, Bev Plaugher, Patty (David Sr.) Ridenour and Sally Mathews.

Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 29 at Lima Community Church.  Visitation 1 hour prior to the service.  Pastor Chip Bullock officiating.
