Joseph "Joe" Bonofiglio

Joseph "Joe" Bonofiglio,
83, of Lima, passed away at 10:50 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Lima Manor Nursing Home from complications due to dementia.
Joe was born in Cosenza, Italy on August 23, 1932. He was the second oldest of five boys born to the late Ippolito and Palma (Paola) Bonofiglio. He also had a half-sister and half-brother who lived in Indiana. He moved to the United States when he was 23 and lived with his half-brother Tony Bonfiglio and his wife Frances in Decatur, Indiana where he learned how to speak English.
In 1963, he married Ida (DeRose) Bonofiglio in Toronto, Canada and settled in Lima where he continued working at the Ford Motor Company, retiring after 35 years of service in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Ida, three children, Tony (Lisa) Bonofiglio, Paolina (Nick) Anthony and John Bonofiglio; five grandchildren, Jake, Nathan and Sam Bonofiglio and Christopher and Rachel Anthony. He is also survived by three brothers; Guido, Aldo (Sylvanna) and Mario (Iola) Bonofiglio and a brother-in-law, Tony (Francesca) DeRose all in Cosenza, Italy; brother-in-law, Ippolito DeRose, sister-in-laws, Concetta Pecora, Rita (Aurelio) Ferrantone all from Canada and nieces, Carolyn DeLuca and Jackie Conrad of Indiana. He will be sadly missed by many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, brother, Luigi (Maria) Bonofiglio; half-sister, Mary (Tony) DeLuca half-brother, Tony (Frances) Bonfiglio; In-Laws Giovanni and Virginia DeRose, brother-in-laws, Santo Pecora and Francesco DeRose, sister-in-laws, Sara Bonofiglio, Maria DeRose, Gina Scornaienchi, niece Rose Mecklenburg, nephew Jim DeLuca and Godson, Giueseppe Scornaienchi.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 PM on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
