Joseph F Jamison

Lima

On March 16, 2024, at 3:55 a.m., God sent His angels to carry Joseph F. Jamison to the arms of his Savior, who was waiting to welcome him into his Heavenly Home, with his wife holding his hand.

 

Joseph had been a resident at Burton’s Ridge since May 2022, with the exception of last December, January and February of 2023, when he was back home.

 

Joseph, age 96, was born on February 05, 1928, in Elida, Ohio, to Robert and Stella (Truesdale) Jamison.   He married Marcella (Adams/Sherrick) Jamison, on May 11, 1974, in Elida, Ohio. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in May.

 

He graduated from Elida High School in 1946, and retired in 1992, from Ford Motor Company’s Lima Engine Plant, where he had been employed as an industrial mechanic for 35 years. Before going to Ford, Joe worked at the Swiss Company,

Lima Locomotive Works, El Par Chrysler, and Black Motor Sales.

 

Before becoming ill, he had been attending Faith Baptist Church, Elida, Ohio, and was formerly a member of the Marion Baptist Church, Delphos, Ohio.

 

After retiring, Joe and Marcella spent many winters in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where they attended the Bethel Baptist Church and stayed at the Roadrunner (KOA) Campground in Alamogordo.

 

Joe is survived by his wife, Marcella. He is also survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Kenneth) Hoehn of Murrells Inlet, SC; and Vicki (Rev. Loran, II) Miracle of Findlay; and one son, Steven W. (Diane) Jamison of Marengo, OH; two stepsons, Dwane K. (Mindy) Sherrick of Suffolk, VA, and Lt. Col. (Ret) Kevin L. (Jessica) Sherrick of Fairborn, OH; one stepdaughter, Carolyn L. (Ben) Kilgore of Lima; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.  Other survivors include sister-in-law, Jeanette Jamison of Lima; a former daughter-in-law, Faye Jamison (Gary) Garrison of Kentucky; and many nephews, nieces, and friends.

 

Joe was preceded in death by both of his parents; his oldest son, David F. Jamison, in October 2016; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma Jean (Lewis) Redd and Florence (Kenneth) Weaver; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Lucie) Jamison, William (Wanda) Jamison, James (Pat) Jamison, and Edward. S. Jamison.  His in-laws, John P., and Carrie R. Adams; five brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: C. Roger (Barbara) Adams, Elizabeth “Betty” (Harold) Bice, H. Armida (Rev. Edward) Spyker, Vernon M. (Lynda) Adams, and Donna M. (Eugene) Leedy.

 

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Faith Baptist Church, 4750 East Road, Elida, OH., with the Rev. Aaron Kimmel, Prince Fredrick, MD., officiating; assisted by Rev. Tom Cooper, Pastor at Faith Baptist Church.  Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, 399 E. Bluelick Rd., Lima, Ohio.

The family would like to thank the personnel at Burton’s Ridge, along with many others from Legacy Hospice Care, for the wonderful care they gave Joe during his time in Hospice.   We also want to thank his former nurse, Angie Mayer, RN and his former aid, Aubrey Hoffman.  Also, many, many thanks to Dr. Mark T. Mueller, Jamie Reindel, CPN; and all their nurses, that took excellent care of Joe, before being admitted to Hospice.
