Joyce K. Makin, 81, passed away at 8:37 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her home in Lima.
Joyce was born on April 12, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to Chet and Della (Lewis) Dumm. On October 4, 1961, she married Lloyd Makin, who survives in Lima.
Joyce was a hostess at Bob Evans for 13 years. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She loved to travel to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Branson, and Las Vegas.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Ken) Peer of Lima and their children: Ricky, Carrie, and Megan Miner; daughter, Jackie Bice of Lima and her children: Brad Dietrich Jr., Aaron Dietrich, and Michael Strahm; daughter, Paula (Rob) Hillard of Florida and their children, Robbie and Jacob Hillard; and her son Ric (April) Makin of Lima and their children: Alexis, Kylee, R.J., Hailey, and Braylon. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother George Dumm; and half-sister, Kim Dumm.
The Memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father John McLoughlin will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
