Karen S. Kaufman

Karen S. Kaufman, 85, passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Otterbein Cridersville.

Karen was born on August 26, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Maurice & Hildegard (Quiring) Huber. On September 28, 1973 she married her husband of 52 years, Russell G. Kaufman, who survives in Cridersville.

Karen was a 1958 graduate of Lima Senior High. She worked as a medical transcriptionist at Lima Memorial and later for Dr. Dennis Pierson. She was a member of First Evangelical & Reformed Church. Her faith was very important to her, as well as her close-knit group of girlfriends. She loved her cats and The Ohio State Marching Band.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Bill) Lee of Lakeview, OH and Debbie (Jeff) Deerhake of Kingwood, TX; stepchildren: Kathy (Denny) Pierson of Powell, OH, Vickie (Kendall) House of Ft. Meyers, FL, Rusty (LuAnn) Kaufman of Wapakoneta, OH; grandchildren: Lauren (Steven) List, Nick (Natalie) Deerhake, Kristen Tumbleson, Nicole (Derrick) Wolf, Nate (Kelley) Mathew, Brandy (Justin) Armour, Dustin (Courtney) House, Suzanne Pierson, Adam Pierson, Rachel (Joe) Jordan, Abby (Adam) Sneary, and Tyler (Morgan) Kaufman; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Ron (Cathy) Huber of Lima.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Mitchell LaRue, first husband, Dennis LaRue, and brother, Tom Huber.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the funeral home. Rev. Wanda Werking will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Universal Hospice of Bellefontaine, Ohio.
