Kathie Lynn White

Kathie White, 83, of Elida, passed away into the arms of Jesus on July 14, 2026, following a brief illness at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.

She was born on May 6, 1943, to the late Jim and Lucille Hay in Lima. She married the love of her life, Terry White, on October 21, 1961. They were high school sweethearts and were married just 3 months shy of 65 years.

She is survived by her three children: Shellie (Terry) Gyetvai, Sherrie (Brian) Twining, and Terry White. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren (with two on the way) who she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by three brothers: Jim (Lisa) Hay, Doug (Kim) Hay and Scott (Jill) Hay.

Kathie was the head of food services for Elida Local Schools for 25 years and thoroughly loved her job and the people she worked alongside. She was an avid Bulldog fan and attended as many sporting events as possible. Kathie enjoyed traveling to all 50 states of which 49 were on a Honda Gold Wing with her beloved husband. She was a member of CCL in her younger years, and a member of Gold Wing Rode Riders. She always looked forward to playing Bunco with her friends on Tuesday afternoons.

She was an active member of Lima Baptist Temple and currently Grace Community Church. She participated in many ladies’ Bible studies. She made it a priority to be in the Word of God daily. Her faith in God was a beautiful example to all who knew her. For 40 years she served the Lord by teaching 2 years old children on Sunday mornings at both Lima Baptist Temple and Grace Community Church. She was a prayer warrior and journaled her prayers to her family, friends and the country she loved. She cared for her family and others so well and was always looking for opportunities to serve them. She never missed sending a loving card to those who needed it. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Services will be held at Grace Community Church, 4359 Allentown Road, Lima, OH. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Gordon MacPhail.
