Kermit Lawson

July 26, 1914 — February 10, 2005

KERMIT EARL LAWSON, 90, died at 8:27 a.m. February 10, 2005, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. He was born July 26, 1914, in Lima to Jess and Mary Scott Lawson, who preceded him in death. He married Velma Hefner, who died in 1990. On June 8, 1991, he married Dortha Briggs Bice, who survives in Lima. Mr. Lawson retired as a turrett lay operator from Clark Equipment. Following his retirement, he was a school bus driver for Marimor Industries for more than 10 years. He was a member and lay preacher at Wesleyan Holiness Church. He and Ralph Tippie were two of the founders of Marysville Fellowship Camp. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed visiting patients at local nursing homes. Survivors include three stepsons, Jack (Mary) Bice of Elida, Michael (Martha) Bice of Monticello and Leslie (Dennise) Bice of Gomer; a stepdaughter-in-law, Carol Bice; a brother, Charles Lawson of Martinsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Steve Ingmire and Brian Ingmire; 12 stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Lester Ingmire. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Ingmire; a granddaughter, Kathy; two brothers, James and Kenneth Lawson; and a stepson, Ronald Bice. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles F. Casey Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, near Cridersville, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
