Larry HORSTMAN

LARRY C. HORSTMAN, 70, died at 11:05 p.m. July 17, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1934, in Muncie, Indiana, to Kenneth and Mary Crow Horstman, who preceded him in death. On January 19, 1963, in Ohio, he married Cathy J. Hartman, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Horstman retired September 1, 1990, as a captain and alarm inspector from the Lima Fire Department, after 31 years. After his retirement he worked for the Bureau of Underground Storage Tanks, a division of the State Fire Marshal's office then transferred to the Fire Inspection Bureau for the last 14 years. He was a member of Firefighters Local 3334 and the Northwest Ohio Fire Prevention Association. He was named Fireman of the Year in 1989. He was an Army veteran serving from May 4, 1954, to April 18, 1956. Survivors also include two sons, Scott Allen Horstman of Lima, Ohio and Rick (Sue) Brandehoff of California; a daughter, Vicki (Lloyd) Boyd of South Carolina; a brother, Jerry Horstman; six grandchildren, Tony Horstman, Alex Horstman, Julie Brandehoff, Nick Brandehoff, Shawn Boyd and Shane Boyd; and five great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Tina Dietsch will officiate.
