Laura was born on April 14, 1974, in Lima, Ohio, to David Wright Fay and Kathleen Ann "Kathy" (McGreevy) Fay who survive in Lima.

Laura's family was the center of her world.  When she was 3 years old, she met Ruby Clark, who became a lifelong friend.  At age 42 she met Tracy Harris, who saved Laurie's life by donating her kidney to Laurie.  Laura attended and graduated from Marimor School in 1996.  She worked a short time at the workshop and then participated in the Easter Seals Day Program.  After that she went to RMS day program.
