Lee Cooney

LEE ARTHUR COONEY, 73, died at 4:04 p.m. September 3, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born August 24, 1931, in McGuffey, Ohio to James Ruben and Mary Wells Cooney, who preceded him in death. On July 3, 1963, in Lima, Ohio, he married Pauline Gilmore Garlock, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Cooney was retired from Lima Superior Coach, where he worked as a painter for 27 years. He was a former member of Springbrook Golf Club and Hawthorne Hills Golf Club. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 of Lima and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 57. He was an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and caring friend to all. Survivors also include a son, Michael (Carol) Cooney; three stepsons, Joseph (Bonnie) Garlock, Charles (Beth) Garlock and James Garlock; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Dean Cooney; a sister, Betty Spencer; and a nephew, Jeffery Spencer. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
