Linda Sue Childs

Linda S. Childs, 73, passed away at 9:02 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Lima Memorial Hospital. 

Linda was born on October 18, 1950, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Ralph R. and Marlene K. (Golden) Bassitt.  On March 26, 1971, she married Cary Calvin Childs who preceded her in death on March 6, 2017.

Linda was a 1969 Allen East graduate.  She was a member  of  Bluffton Senior Citizen Center.  She enjoyed crafts, reading, and loved bowling and dancing.

She is survived by her brothers, Ralph R. (Carol) Bassitt, Jr. of Ekron, KY and Michael W. (Laura) Bassitt of Lafayette, OH; brother-in-law, Bob Childs of Lima; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Denise Courtney.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024.  Rev. Randy Davis will officiate.  Burial of ashes will be at Lafayette Cemetery at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lafayette & Jackson Township Fire Dept. or Bluffton Senior Citizen Center in Linda’s name.
