Margaret Ann “Peg” Nichols, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Lima Convalescent Home.
Peg was born on August 30, 1928, in Lima, Ohio, to Paul and Muriel (Lambert) Golden. She spent her childhood residing with her grandparents, Pierce and Annie Hazell and her mother, Muriel.
Peg married Richard Nichols after his discharge from the U.S. Navy. He preceded her in death in 1993 after 47 years of marriage. She was a 1946 graduate of South High School, a four year cheerleader, and the Homecoming Queen her senior year.
Peg retired from the Lima City School System after 25 years. She was a loyal “Spartan Fan” and rarely missed a football or basketball game. Peg was a member of South Side Christian Church for many years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, and getting together with her friends and family
She is survived by her sister, Ann Pickett of Texarkana, TX; she and Richard’s three children: Christine (Rick) Dannhausen of Columbus, OH, Mike (Denise) Nichols of Simpsonville, SC, and Jody (Jim) Morris of Lima, OH. She had seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Wanda Werking will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or South Side Christian Church.
