MARTHA STONEHILL SCHLAGBAUM, 85, died at 1:35 a.m. August 25, 2004, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born February 8, 1919, in Spencerville, Ohio to Frank and Ivah Detrick Stonehill, who preceded her in death. On November 26, 1955, she married George Schlagbaum, who died in 1971. Mrs. Schlagbaum retired in 1981 from Westinghouse Electric Corp., where she was one of the first women expeditors, after 42 years. She was a member of the Lost Creek Country Club and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54. She was an avid golfer and was still golfing at the age of 77. In 1978, she won the championship flight and in 1979 was runner-up in the championship flight of the Westinghouse Open Golf Tournament. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dominoes, the Reds and the Buckeyes. Survivors include a brother, Robert Stonehill of Spencerville, Ohio; three sisters, Dorothy Stonehill of Lima, Ohio and Anna Zwiebel and Betty (Gene) Krick, both of Spencerville, Ohio; five nieces, Irene Murray, Erika Wolff and, Manette Wolff, all of Lima, Ohio, Marcia Roeder of Columbus, Ohio, and Kathy Nighswander of Delphos, Ohio; four nephews, Mike (Peggy) Krick and Stanley (Diane) Zwiebel, both of Lima, Ohio, Garry (Mary) Stonehill of Arkansas and Marc (Jan) Wolff of Akron, Ohio; and several great-nieces and -nephews and several great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald "Doc" Stonehill; and two sisters, Helen Stonehill and Mary Wolff, her twin. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Marc Wolff will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
